About Us
Our Story
As pediatricians, we worked in the insurance-based system for years, doing our best to provide the best care possible for children and their families. Despite our best efforts, we found ourselves constrained by the time limitations, payment hassles, and communication delays. We knew there had to be a better way.
Direct pediatric care was that better way – but when we first started, we had to filter through a lot of information and resources to find the guidance we needed. We also discovered things that worked, and things that didn’t.
Through DPC Pediatrician, we seek to compile the best and most reliable resources so that you can easily discover if direct pediatric care is right for you. And, if it is, you have the necessary resources at your disposal so that you can set yourself on the path to success!
Meet the Founders
Marina Capella
Marina Capella, MD, M.Ed., MBA, FAAP, FABOIM, is an integrative pediatrician and entrepreneur based in Salt Lake City, Utah. In 2021, she founded Healing Arts Pediatrics, the first pediatric Direct Primary Care (DPC) practice in the greater Salt Lake area. What began as a small startup has grown into a thriving, million-dollar practice, culminating in the purchase of her own clinic building in 2024.
Dr. Capella is double board-certified in General Pediatrics and Integrative Medicine, and her clinical approach blends conventional care with modalities such as myofascial release, clinical hypnosis, and herbal medicine. Her work is rooted in the belief that pediatric care can be both deeply relational and highly effective when physicians are given the time and autonomy to practice intentionally.
Transitioning into DPC not only transformed her practice, but also rekindled her joy in medicine. This experience sparked a passion for helping other pediatricians break free from traditional system constraints and build practices—and lives—that are aligned with their values. Through consulting and mentorship, she is known for combining practical business strategy with intuitive guidance, helping physicians recognize their worth and create sustainable, fulfilling careers.
Dr. Capella is deeply committed to education and leadership. She serves as adjunct faculty at the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine at the University of Utah and Noorda College of Osteopathic Medicine and co-hosts the DPC Pediatricians podcast. She is also the founder of Future Minority Doctor, a nonprofit dedicated to mentoring and empowering underrepresented students pursuing careers in medicine.
She completed her executive MBA in 2026, further strengthening her ability to guide physicians in building financially sustainable and purpose-driven practices. Her work sits at the intersection of medicine, entrepreneurship, and personal transformation, with a mission to redefine what is possible in pediatric care.
